More Henkel Corporate Reporting 2014
Nurturing leadership is important to Henkel and relevant on all levels of the organization. In this context, we initiated a weeklong digital exchange on leadership in cooperation with the Harvard School of Business. Employees in lower and middle management participated in a worldwide discussion with each other on our leadership principles. We also developed a new program in 2014 in collaboration with the Harvard School of Business. Our aim is to further prepare our top executives for the strategic challenges of a global environment.
In order to further develop our pipeline of strong leaders, we rolled out our EXCEED program in 2014. This nine-month program provides outstanding employees the opportunity to work directly with regional top management on business projects. It has been rolled out in Asia, Africa/Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
To strengthen management skills, we have developed a mandatory, standardized, multi-level training program for managers worldwide. This supports our managers with management responsibility from their first operational management tasks through to strategic management issues.
Selected managers also attend internationally renowned business schools to further develop their knowledge of general management topics. We have designed challenging content which is specifically tailored to our strategy. High-performing employees with strong potential who qualified for the Executive Resource Program also took part again in selected programs at the Harvard Business School in 2014. The Executive Resource Program is very important to us, because it makes a significant contribution to internal succession planning for top management. As a result, we were once again able to fill a number of top management positions with participants from this program in 2014.
In order to deepen the understanding of these principles, we developed with the Harvard Business School a Leadership Forum for all our senior leaders. This program combines knowledge exchange between Henkel’s top managers and peers with insights from renowned Harvard professors. One third of our senior leadership team participated in the pilot program in August 2014; the remainder will take part in 2015.
